One aim of all yoga styles is to harmonize body, mind and soul.
Yin Yoga is a calm, passive and very gentle yoga style, which nevertheless has a deep practice. Your body sinks without warming up into a posture, which is supported by “props”. This allows your body to relax without feeling pain through stretching. Your fascia, muscles and joints are stimulated and your flexibility will embetter. During the free flow of your breath you are practising peace, acceptance and letting go. It is a balance between patience, commitment to gravity and trust in yourself and your body. Tensions can be alliviated, your chi comes into flow again and the energy exchange in your body will be harmonized.
After class you will probably need some time until your mind will be fully able to play, because you will be so deeply relaxed. Maybe you will have some trouble even remembering your name! ;-)
Yin Yoga is suitable for all ages and levels because you only go as deep into the posture as you feel comfortable. Moreover, you can be supported by props. Wear warm and comfortable clothes. Take your cup of tea to class and be prepared for a cosy class in which you will be closer to yourself than ever.
You need cushions, blocks (or books), blankets, bolster – simply everything your body and mind are asking for – in order to feel comfortable during the asanas and stay longer in the postures.
